View Quality Clauses

07/06/2009

Dear Valued Supplier,

For continuous improvement for proper flow-down information to our suppliers and their sub-tier suppliers, we have revised the procedural document that will give the required information for Quality Assurance Requirements and specific Quality Assurance Clauses.

The Procedure, SP 7.1.001 Rev E will define the general requirements that all suppliers for Fort Walton Machining will be required to follow and comply with. In addition to the general requirements the procedure will define specific Quality Assurance Clauses that may be applicable to the purchase orders placed to the suppliers by Fort Walton Machining.

Changes made to the procedure are as follows:

Quality Clause “QC 23” has been added to establish a supplier program for Foreign Object Debris/ Damage (FOD) Prevention.

Suppliers must be aware of components of FOD Control as well as their responsibility associated with FOD Prevention.  Awareness and accountability of FOD Control is the responsibility of all suppliers.  Understanding the components of FOD and how it can be prevented helps to ensure the delivery of safe products to our customers.

What is FOD?  FOD stands for two parts of the same problem and one can lead to the other.

Foreign Object Debris refers to material or objects that are not part of the aircraft of assembly that have invaded the product.

Foreign Object Damage is damage to an aircraft, assembly, or other product that harms the product in ways that can be measured by cost, safety, or performance.

Please review the procedural requirements closely, by acceptance of the purchase order placed by Fort Walton Machining the supplier is accepting the contractual requirement to supply goods and/or services in accordance with the Purchase Order information / instructions and the SP 7.1.001 Procedural Quality Assurance Requirements and specific Quality Assurance Clauses specified on the Purchase Order.

In the event that any Quality Assurance Requirement and/or Quality Assurance Clauses cannot be complied with as defined on the Purchase Order, please contact the buyer and express the concern prior to delivery to Fort Walton Machining. Failure to resolve any issues of noncompliance to the Quality Assurance Requirements and/or Quality Assurance Clauses may result in a rejection and return of the goods and/or services provided by the supplier and may also result in a negative impact on the performance of the supplier rating system.

Thank you in advance for helping us to improve our processes to provide you with the required instruction and information for the goods and/or services procured.

Keep up the good job.

Sincerely,
